Our J Crew Wedding Cake
We made a wedding cake for JCrew's wedding photo shoot in
January.  It has now been published in their long awaited April
catalog and is seen in a flash intro video on their website
preempting the bridal section of the website.  They filmed at
Rosedown Plantation the week after the BCS national
championship. A tornado came through just an hour later after I
delivered the cake, but they did get some shots in and was able to
use my cake in their catalog.  Woo wee.

The Daughter and Father Team

Kyleen Kiger-Smith - Owner and Founder
I took my first cake class in 1989.  It started as a hobby and then a weekend
job to make ends meet.  Since those days my passion has given me my drive.
brings out the craftiness and artistic abilities that has been passed down to
me from my parents.  What can I say, it runs in the family.  I have worked at a
bakery and a flower shop in the past.  It was nice, but I like to do things my
way. I organize the Baton Rouge Cake Club.  Local cake enthusiast, like
myself, get together once a month to share decoration techniques.  I also like
to travel around to participate in national cake competitions and take cake
classes. No work on Sunday for me.  I am a mother of four boys and have a
very patient husband that bring that twinkle in my eye each an every day.
Cake is third in my priority book - God and my family are at the top tier.  This,
dare I say job, lets me do what I love while being able to be with whom I love
thanks to clients like you.

Since business had been so good our first year,I had enlisted in the help of
my dad,
Greg Kiger, which is a professional artist.  He has retired from
the Morning Advocate newspaper as headillustrator of eighteen years, to free
lance painting. You may find his paintings in the local art galleries, his murals in
schools and churches, and even hispainted works on many of the cakes
shown onthis website.  I am so blessed to work with my Dad.
